Pastor Barbara Berry

Rev. Tommy Wimsae

Pastor

Pastor Thomas Richter Wimsae (41) is a native Pennsylvanian, who grew up in Carlisle and Philadelphia. He is overjoyed to be serving his fourth call here in Chambersburg. He has a BA in Philosophy and Religion from Ursinus College and an MDiv from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. Ordained in 2016, his first call was to the remote Alaskan Native village of Shishmaref  – the northern-most Lutheran Church in the ELCA, just ten miles south of the arctic circle. His second call was at a large suburban congregation in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, and his third call was in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan in Manistique.

Pastor Tommy describes himself as a philosopher, poet, drummer, and an avid walking enthusiast. As a kid, people did not ask Pastor Tommy what he wanted to be when he grew up, rather they asked when he was going to seminary. As a cradle Lutheran with grandfathers on both sides of his family who were pastors, you could say that its in his blood. He has always loved church, teaching bible studies, and being part of worship and God’s work in the world.

Pastor Ruth Smith

Pastor Ruth Smith

Visitation Pastor

Pastor Ruth was ordained in 1996 and has spent most of her ministry in Lower Susquehanna Synod. Her double undergraduate major was in Church Music and Elementary Education, and her work over the years has included those two fields as well as the hospital lobbying industry in Washington DC. She has been Trinity’s visitation pastor since 2017, and a part-time interim pastor at Salem Lutheran Church in Pleasant Hall, PA since 2011.

Over the years her most consistent favorite hobby has continued to be reading historical mysteries, especially in medieval settings. Earlier years included a lot of time spent in tent camping and hiking all over the United States. Her two grandchildren are now in college in Delaware and Virginia.
