I did not anticipate that the series upload would be in your top session tonight. That show is great! I did want to add that within the shell the programmers father was deciding between going to be uploaded or to go to heaven to be with his wife. He decided to go to heaven to be with his wife. So within the show I do think they scratched on the surface of heaven and what it would be like. I saw the series probably two months ago so maybe I’m not remembering all the details. Thanks For another interesting topic tonight
It is a fun show; glad to know you have enjoyed it, too, Kathy! You make a good point about the programmer’s father. His character and the exchanges with his daughter add to the depth of discussion about what kind of heaven is really worth hoping for.. They also introduce a generational nuance, as the daughter sometimes characterizes her dad’s views as “old school.” I’m not sure that the kind of transhumanism explored in Upload is widespread enough in popular culture for this generational nuance to hold, but it is interesting to observe that at least for some younger folks, integration of technology represents an advance in religious thinking.. The opposite case can be made, too, and I’ll be intrigued to see whether the show does anything with this story line in future seasons (if COVID doesn’t upend future seasons!)..
We are blessed to be “ sharing in these times with God”. This perspective is one o had never thought of in quite that way. Thank you!
